MS and mental health – research webinar

We’ll be joined by Dr Joanna Hudson from COMPASS. For the past ten years, she's been working alongside patients and healthcare professionals to develop psychological treatments. She wants to help patients to manage low mood and anxiety in response to living with a long-term condition.

Dr Hudson has worked as a therapist on the largest ever trial on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) for treating depression in MS. Her role as a therapist made her passionate about developing better psychological treatments for all.

She's thrilled to have received funding from the MS Society to work with colleagues and patients at King’s Cross London. They're developing and testing an online cognitive behavioural (CBT) programme named COMPASS to better treat depression and anxiety in response to living with MS.

The program is made up of 11 online modules which cover topics that our research has shown people with long-term conditions may find difficult, for example, managing uncertainty. CBT is an evidence-based treatment for helping people to manage low mood and anxiety.
