#BreakingPoint

Tens of thousands of people living with MS have been on the receiving end of government cuts for years. Now many are reaching #BreakingPoint.

This is a tough time for everyone, but people with MS are being hit especially hard by the cost of living crisis. Many people with MS are making devastating choices between essentials like food, heating and medication.

Change can't wait. We're reaching #BreakingPoint.

Tell the UK Government: it’s time to act. They must:

  • Introduce a new cost of living support package for disabled people immediately
  • Increase benefits to cover the extra costs of living with MS
  • Pause debt repayments for people on benefits

Reduced to Breaking Point report

Our new report shows that people with MS are facing terrible impacts from the cost of living crisis.

A survey that we ran earlier in the year surveyed over a thousand people living with MS. We found that:

  • Nearly 2 in 5 people with MS who claim means-tested benefits surveyed can’t afford to keep their homes warm. And around a third of this group can’t afford the medication or treatments they need
  • Nearly a third of people with MS surveyed sometimes or often can't afford to eat balanced meals
  • Around 3 in 10 people with MS surveyed have had to reduce their spending by reducing or stopping therapies or treatments

MS Enough

We've been campaigning to improve disability benefits across the UK for years. We launched our MS Enough campaign in 2015, to say that MS is Enough without a welfare system that makes claiming support difficult and emotionally draining.

Since then, we've had more than 56,000 petition signatures and thousands more people email their MPs, MSPs and Ministers.
